Optics
Abstract
This page contains a presentation for the Univeristy of California, Berkeley graduate Electrical Engineering course on optical engineering (EE218A).
Single photon microscopy utilizes physical principles of stochastic, time varied emission of single photons. Sources include quantum dots, organic dyes, and flourescent proteins, which vary in their engineering, activation methods, and optical properties (i.e. photostability and SNR). In general. single photon microscopy allows reconstruction algorithms to compile images from the point-spread functions of the single photons that have a resolution below the 200nm diffraction limit of light.
